Artist Profile: Ben Muri

​

Ben Muri was born and grew up in Rhode Island.  He graduated from Barrington High School in 2000 and Virginia Commonwealth University where he earned a BFA in Photography and Film in 2004.  

 

Following graduation, Ben remained in Richmond for a number of years working as a camera operator, editor and set photographer. He moved to Portland, OR in May, 2021 following a three-year period in New York City.

 

Ben’s work evolved to a focus on landscape and portrait photography and painting when his congenital illness continued to impact his low vision to the point where he is currently legally blind.  Working with acrylics has enabled Ben to continue to develop his creative talents in a medium that he can “feel”.
